During your time in Seattle you will have a number of options for housing. You can live on campus in a residence hall or an apartment, if available, or you can live off campus in an apartment or room. You could also choose to participate in a homestay program.
Please note that the UW International & English Language Programs office does not make housing arrangements; we recommend that you arrange for housing well before your arrival. We also recommend that you look through our Housing Resources and Tips Brochure.
See the pages listed below for more information about your available housing options.
Living on campus in a residence hall or apartment puts you at the center of university life, within easy walking distance of your classes and other campus locations. These housing options are available to IELP students during winter, spring and summer quarters.
There is a large variety of apartments and rooms available for rent near the UW main campus. Renting an apartment or room in a nearby neighborhood gives you the flexibility to eat out or prepare your own meals, along with more control over when you can move in and out.
Staying with an American family allows you to practice your English daily and to learn more about local customs and culture. Homestays are often quite affordable and usually include some meals.
If you arrive early and need a place to stay for a few days, consider one of these nearby hotels and motels.
The UW and other nearby areas offer a wide variety of food choices. Check out information on dining options on and around campus, including prepaid dining plans.
