International Studies Academic Year Abroad (ISAYA) Institute



The University of Washington's Jackson School of International Studies and International & English Language Programs have partnered to create the International Studies Academic Year Abroad (ISAYA) Institute. This program offers international students a high-quality academic study abroad experience, with a focus on international economies and global sustainability. ISAYA prepares tomorrow's leaders with the knowledge of global issues that they need today.

ISAYA students take a personalized mix of international studies and English language courses. Students will be placed in either the Olympic Division (intermediate English proficiency) or the Cascade Division (advanced English proficiency), based on their test scores.

Who Should Apply

ISAYA is open to undergraduate students who have been enrolled for a minimum of one year at a university outside of the United States. Applicants must be in good academic standing at their home university, have intermediate or advanced English language proficiency levels and be interested in international affairs.
