IEP Business English Track

The Business English Track of the UW Intensive English Program (IEP) is intended for students who want to improve their English proficiency for business purposes and further their careers. Students in the Business English Track learn how American business works and take classes in one of the most important U.S. cities for technology, finance and trade.

Program Features

Features of all programs:

  • Experienced instructors with advanced degrees
  • Small class sizes, with no more than 18 students per class

Features of the Intensive Business English Program (IBEP):

  • Variety of business topics to choose from
  • Guest speakers from Seattle-area businesses
  • Field trips to local companies
  • Free opportunity to take the TOEIC

Program Structure and Courses

Students in the Business English Track begin their studies with General English Levels 1, 2 or 3. You will take a placement test at the beginning of the program to determine your correct level.

After completing Level 3, students take Introduction to Business English at the downtown location.

Introduction to Business English

Once you’ve finished Introduction to Business English, you will take the Intensive Business English Program (IBEP) at the downtown location. Completion of the Business English Track requires finishing IBEP.

Students in IBEP can choose from the following topics:

  • Marketing (spring and autumn quarters)
  • Global trade (winter and summer quarters)
  • Entrepreneurship (winter and summer quarters)
