ANNOUNCEMENT: The Intensive English Program will no longer be offered after summer 2020. Students will need to either return home or transfer to another institution.
How to Apply
To apply, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older (or 17 years old with proof of graduation from high school)
- Have at least a basic knowledge of English
No proof of English proficiency is required for admission. But new students will take a placement exam. This test will place you into a level ranging from Level 1 (beginning) to Level 5 (advanced). If your score is lower than Level 1, you will be required to study at another SEVP-certified program for at least one quarter. We’ll assist such students with the transfer process.
Students who have taken the TOEFL or IELTS can submit a qualifying test score for direct placement into Level 4 or Level 5. IELP accepts test scores up to two years from the date of the original exam.
Level 4 Qualifying Scores
- TOEFL iBT – 65 (13*)
- IELTS – 5.5 (5.0*)
Level 5 Qualifying Scores
- TOEFL iBT – 75 (15*)
- IELTS – 6.0 (5.5*)

Note: If you have a TOEFL iBT score of 84–91 or an IELTS score of 6.5, you may be eligible for the Accelerated Track. To learn more, contact us.
1. Download and fill out the application form.
2. Gather the following materials:
Official bank statement (less than six months old) and letter of sponsorship (if sponsored) confirming you have the funds necessary to cover all tuition and living expenses while you are in the United States. Both documents must be in English.
Nonrefundable application fee ($50 USD)
Express mail fee ($40 USD) (only required for students who need their I-20 sent to an address outside the United States)
Optional: Proof of English language proficiency (with an original test date that is less than two years old)

What Happens Next
We’ll notify you by email of your application status within about two weeks of receiving your complete packet and fees.
If you’re accepted to the Intensive English Program, you’ll receive program details as well as instructions on how to prepare for housing and arrival.
If you’re outside the United States and you need an I-20 to apply for an F-1 student visa, we’ll send your I-20 and acceptance packet to your mailing address. The acceptance packet includes information about paying the SEVIS I-901 fee and preparing for your F-1 visa interview appointment.
If you’re transferring to our program from another U.S. school, we'll include transfer instructions in your acceptance e-mail.
