Homestays

In a homestay, you'll live with an American family who has applied to host international students. Living with a local family allows you to practice your English skills in a friendly, relaxed setting. Homestays are also a great way to make friends and learn about U.S. culture. The family receives a monthly fee to help cover their costs.

Your host family will provide you with a private furnished bedroom and will often include you in family activities. Prices start at $650 per month, including meals. Some homestays may be available at lower cost without a meal plan. You can expect to commute to the UW by bus or Link light rail.

To arrange a homestay, we suggest you use a homestay agency. For a fee, the agency will place you with a host family and (in many cases) pick you up at the airport. In the past, many of our students have used these companies:
