You can register in two ways:
In Person

In-person registration hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.; 1–4 p.m. UW Tower is a secure building. Call us at 206-543-2310 when you arrive at the building and we’ll escort you to our office.
By Phone

Phone registration hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Payment Options
You have a number of options for paying your tuition and fees. Payment is due before the start of class. Some IELP programs may have specific payment requirements and deadlines.
Electronic Check (ACH)
Electronic check (ACH) is the preferred method of payment. An electronic check is an online payment method that uses the routing and account numbers of your checking or saving account. There is no fee to pay by ACH.
Credit Card or Debit Card
For credit or debit cards, we accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express only. We don’t accept Discover or any other type of credit or debit card.
You’re charged a nonrefundable 2.95% service fee (minimum $3) when paying with a U.S.-issued card, and a 4.25% fee for international cards.
In addition, please note:
- If your card is from a foreign bank, make sure you can charge the full tuition amount. Some cards have daily limits. Before your registration day, be sure to notify your credit or debit card company of the amount to be charged and the date of payment.
- If the card is from a U.S. bank, call the bank and tell them what date you plan to make payment and the amount you’ll be charging to the card.
Bank Check
Make your personal bank check payable to the University of Washington. Be sure the check has your local, U.S.-based address on it. Note: If you have just opened a bank account and deposited money with an overseas check, the bank may not release the money for 10 days.
Cash
We do not accept cash payments.
Flywire
If you're making a payment from an international bank account, you can pay online using Flywire.
To pay with Flywire:
- Go to Flywire’s international payment portal for the University of Washington.
- Click Start Your Payment for UW International & English Language Programs
You should allow one week for the UW to receive payment.
Emergency Funding
IELP provides a limited amount of emergency funding to current students experiencing unexpected financial hardship to help them afford to complete their studies.
To be eligible, you must:
- Be currently enrolled in an IELP program lasting at least one full quarter
- Be in good academic standing (3.0 cumulative GPA or proof of satisfactory academic status)
- Be experiencing unexpected financial hardship such as a medical emergency or loss of sponsor income
You can apply to receive emergency funds just once per academic year. Note that funding is only available to currently enrolled IELP students and interns whose fees were not paid by a UW campus department. Emergency funds are not available to interns or prospective or admitted students who have not yet arrived and begun their studies.
For more information, contact an international student adviser.
